A LOVERS REWARD * TOMMY TATE * OKEH * JA

Florida born Tommy Tate cut his first disc at ABC Paramount in 1965, after which he recorded as Tommy and The Derby's, for Swing, reverting back to Tommy Tate he recorded I'm taking On Pain for OKeh in 1966 followed in July by the melodious and Soulful ballad A Lovers Reward.

The disc pictured above is a Jamaican issue pressed up by WIRL probably around the same time as the US release, and gives an indication as to what Soul records were popular on the Island alongside the Ska and Rock Steady of the time. It was also released in the UK, his only 45 to be released in England, on Columbia in November.
