Robert Parker was thirty six when he cut this influential, with the emphasis on 'in', dance record in 1966, and although his recording days stretched back to 1959 when he played saxophone in New Orleans veteran Professor Longhair's band, the young dancers in England's capitol took him for a hip teenager with the very latest in Soul dance records.
Released in the US on Nola (New Orleans and Louisiana) records #721, in April 1966, Barefootn' was the first of eleven 45s by Robert Parker on the label, only two of which were released in the UK along with, due to the success of the single, an LP also titled Barefootin'. It was reissued in the UK on Contempo-Raries backed with the excellent I caught You In A Lie, in August 1974 (see below).
