EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEBODY TO LOVE * SOLOMON BURKE * ATLANTIC 4004 * UK

Solomon Burke's first release for Atlantic was in 1961 and although he was not altogether satisfied with his treatment by the company he none the less recorded some top songs with them. Inexplicably there are some great songs take a little time to achieve maximum impact on their audiences; not so with Everybody Needs Somebody To Love it was one of those songs that had an immediate impact on the Soul music fans and dancers at the time. The song is very much sung in a Gospel style and also (for the time) different sounding enough to single Solomon Burke out as innovative and original, something the Mod's at that time would have responded to; making certain that he was a singer for them rate highly and check all releases by him.
