GIMME LITTLE SIGN * BRENTON WOOD * LIBERTY 15021 * UK

Smooth Soul with a dance beat from Brenton Wood, who began using that name on record in 1960 for the First President label, coincidently he also recorded for the Brent label! Gimme Little Sign is another of those exceptionally fine and slightly unusual sounding records from the period that have suffered somewhat from their own success, through overplay and over inclusion on Soul compilations, rendering their brilliance a little too familiar. Produced by Joe Hooven and Hal Winn the sound of this and Wood's previous release The Ogum Boogum Song, had that little something different possibly due to their work the previous year with Psych Rock band Count Five and their iconic Psychotic Reaction.
