Charles Edwin Hatcher, a. k. a. Edwin Starr first recorded with The Futuretones in 1957 for the Cleveland label Reserve. His solo career started on the Ric Tic label with the top Mod cut: Agent Double-O-Soul the first of three outstanding dance records that put his name firmly on the map for the club, dancehall and party goers in the mid1960s. Although in Britain Agent Double-O-Soul was not issued, due to its popularity the song was widely available on import; Headline News was his fourth release for Ric Tic and his second in the UK.
