I'M JUST A FOOL * LOU LAWTON * SPECIALITY 1005 * UK

Lew Lawton aka Moondog, was born Lucius Lavarn Lawton, in 1942 in Savannah Georgia, and died 2004, shortening his name to Lew, he recorded I'm Just A Fool for Capitol Records #5274 in the US. The second of only two for the label both of which were picked up for release in the UK by Ember Records,  the first: Doing The Philly Dog was also released in 1966; after recording for Capitol he moved to Wand where he released the popular dance cut Knick Knack Patty Wack in 1967.

A fine Soul ballad, with some nice girl group vocal backing, I'm Just A Fool (And Everybody Knows) was produced by Marvin Holtzman with arrangements by William Sanders and recorded in New York; the flip Wrapped In A Dream is an up-tempo cut that is more favoured by fans of Northern Soul.
