George Freeman first recorded for the Los Angeles based Gardena label in 1962, that same year he cut two for Baytown another West Coast label. Between 1963 and 64 he had three records out on Valiant, before turning up in 1966 on the East Coast to record the splendid I'm Like A Fish for the fledgling New York based Shout label (the second release on the label). Released in the UK in 1971 this was his only record to be issued here; it never sold well partly, I suspect, because of the title and the fact that by the time of its release the music had changed into a new funky sound.
