I t can cause some uncertainty when two artists share the same name as it was in the 1960s for some Soul fans with Freddie Hughes and Fred Hughes. With preciously little biographical information, and more often none at all, on Black American recording artists, and the seemingly bewildering array of different labels any one artist could record for, it's no wonder that these two singers were thought of possibly being one and the same. Send My Baby Back, a pleading Soul ballad with good female backing vocals and good musical arrangement was his first release - I think it may have previously been issued on the Wee label - of three on the Wand label.
