First released on OKeh 7216 in the USA and issued in Great Britain as a B side. Major Lance was born 4 April 1941, Chicago, Illinois, and died. 3 September 1994, a former amateur boxer he sang with the Five Gospel Harmonaires and from there different sources give him as either being part of the Floats or the Ideals. His debut solo release was in 1959 on Mercury, I Got A Girl, and was written and produced by a high school contemporary, somebody called Curtis Mayfield. He worked with this Curtis on many other top tunes, including his top ten hit The Monkey Time.
