Born Overton Vertis Wright, October 9, 1939, and died November 16, 1980 age just 41. He was a successful gospel singer having sung and recorded with gospel groups such as the Spirit of Memphis Quartet and the Sunset Travelers, then after treading the well worn path of Gospel to secular music his first secular recording was That's How Strong My Love Is for Goldwax records in 1964. 

Your Gonna Make Me Cry is a heart wrenching Soul ballad and was the first British record of his to be issued (see below) it was released on the Vocalion label backed with a novelty dance number called Monkey Dog.
