COME BACK INTO MY HEART * THE VOLUMES * CHEX 1005 * USA

This Quintet: Eddie Union, Elijah Davis, Larry Wright, Joe Truvillion and Ernest Newson all come from Detroit, Michigan, they cut their debut record I Love You, the first of two, for Willie Ewing's Detroit Chex imprint (which was also released in the UK on Fontana). Although I Love You was recorded in a garage, with Richcard 'Popcorn' Wylie playing on suitcases instead of drums, the record was a number one hit in Detroit and went to number twenty two national. The above, Come Back Into My Heart the follow up and their last for the label never had the same commercial success, it is, none the less, a fine group harmony - with Lamont Dozier on 'real' drums - record and a good example of the Pre-Tamla Detroit Soul sound.
