DON'T BREAK YOUR PROMISE * THE OVATIONS * MGM SOUNDS OF MEMPHIS 708 * USA
Another record from the 1970s that for me has the sound of the 60' written all over it. For Don't Break Your Promise The Ovations were Louis Williams, William Young and Nathaniel Lewis, it was produced by Don Greer and George Jackson both of whom would be singing with The Ovations the following year on Just Too Good To Be True MGM 14623.
The B side of Touching Me, a song very much in the Sam Cooke tradition of Ovations songs, Don't Break Your Promise while in fact being a Memphis recording has all that a quality of Chicago Soul or an up town New York record.
