The beginning of karate is believed to have its
origins in
India
with a man named Bodhiharma. Fourteen hundred years ago, he traveled to the
Shaolin

China
, to give a lecture on his religion to the monks. Bodhiharma felt the soul and
body were inseparable. Thus, the need for good physical conditioning. There
was a mini vogue for karate songs around the mid 1960s - predating the bigger Kung
Fu craze in the mid 1970s - two other karate songs were: Chubby
Checker's Karate Monkey and Jerry-O's Karate Boogaloo.
