RESPECTABLE  * JIMMY SOUL & THE CHANTS * 20th CENTURY FOX 413 * USA

Respectable was written and first recorded by The Isley Brothers on RCA Victor in 1959, it was covered by The Chants, an Italian American vocal group for the tiny Tru Eko label in 1961, it's successes led it to being leased to and released on MGM that same year, and issued again the following year on another tiny independent U.W.R. Where or how Jimmy Soul comes into the picture is unclear, but he turns in a top performance sounding for all the world like he really has met the 'respectable' girl in the song. This cut along with a brace of others turned up on a Spin-O-Rama  LP Jimmy Soul & The Belmonts.
