Not all dance records were good to dance to at the time they came out, some were too fast, some to silly, some just tried too hard, but when they got it right it just makes you want to dance. The Watusi is just that, and although it doesn't have the grace and beauty of the Orlons Watusi it still has bags of danceability and Soul. It was the second attempt at a named dance record by The Vibrations released on Checker the first was the less successful Doing The Slop on Checker 967 from the previous year.
