DON'T CALL MY NAME * BILLY TATE * PEACOCK 1671 * USA
Billy Tate only had this one release on Peacock, and though a good mid tempo dance cut - it looks like it belonged to a Jamaican DJ and enjoyed a healthy life getting dancers on the floor and shaking their booty's - it has a simple Poppy sound that marks the end of the R&B era when the real vitality and creative inspiration was ebbing away fast while young men like Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and Bobby Bland were already developing a new sound: Soul.
