DON'T HAPPEN NO MORE * YOUNG JESSIE * MODERN 1002 * USA

Young Jessie's lament on the changing role of women in society, this is a Modern Records repro' and is backed with his successful Hit, Git And Split, both sides feature Mickey Baker & Sam Taylor. He only had one record issued in England Shuffle In The Gravel rerleased on London 8544. Young Jessie was born Obediah Donnell Jessie, December 1936,  Dallas, Texas; Obediah is an unusual name nowadays to all but those familiar with the Bible. The name comes from the Old Testament, or Jewish Scriptures, and along with the likes of Habakkuk, Amos and Johna, Obiediah was  a minor  prophet; minor because their books were smaller. Obediah Preached abut Edom joining Judah's enemies; how interesting is that? Just think of all the poor sufferrs who have had to endure those boring brain washing scriptures and countless others being read to them by some pompous twit standing on high while they are sitting on a hard bench in some gloomy building even as outside the sun was shining the trees were in fragrant blossom with the birds singing in their branches. It is possible that Young Jessie  was named after this profit (when you think about it it is possible tha he changed his name as a political gesture so as not to endorse that oppression), or he could have been named after Obediah Barber (1825-1909) the Legendary "King-of-the-Okefenokee". Devon Irons invokes the name Obediah many times on his excellent Ketch Vampire
