I'M A WITNESS FOR MY LORD * THE REVEREND KELSEY * BRUNSWICK 9256 * UK

The Reverend Kelsey (April 1897 - January 1993) was a charismatic preacher who recorded for Scoop, Super Disc, MGM and Decca in the late 1940s. The dynamic Gospel I'm A Witness For My Lord was originally released in the USA on Decca 48256 and some time later in the UK on the 78 RPM Vocalian, Origins Of Jazz series, the above Brunswick Extended Play (EP) was first released in 1957.

Reviewed in The Billboard magazine in December 1951 the reviewer for the original release wrote: "Remarkable on-the-scene recording of a gospel gathering with Kelsey pouring out a sermon to the responses of his congregation . Builds to a spine-tingling rhythmic windup. An exciting waxing which should do well in the Gospel belts as well as with collectors of folklore"
