YOU'RE STILL MY BABY: PART 1* BOBBY MARCHAN * FIRE 1028 * USA
Oscar James Gibson, a. k. a. Bobby Marchan had a long career in show business located in and around New Orleans, where, in his other profession, as a female impersonator, the relaxed attitudes of the town suited him. He started recording with Ace records in 1956, and spent a long and productive time with Huey 'Piano' Smith and The Clowns. After leaving Ace records and The Clowns, he spent a while touring as a female impersonator, then recorded for Bobby Robinson's Fire label, where his recording of Big Jay McNeely song There Is Something On Your Mind earned him the no.1 spot on the R&B charts. Bobby Marchan died in 1999, age 69.
