BYE BYE BABY * MARIE ADAMS AND JOHNNY OTIS * CAPITOL 14817 * UK

Band leader Johnny Otis had some top class female singers in his troupe including Little Esther, and Willie Mae 'Big Mama' Thornton, but the biggest mama of them all was Marie Adams, who along with two other very large and very beautiful ladies (seebelow) were collectively known as 'The Three Tons of Joy'. Written by Johnny Otis Bye Bye Baby is, as are many of his songs, pure Pop, but sung with such a rich and powerful voice as Marie Adams and with an excellent musical backing the recording is a great slice of black Rock and Roll from the 1950s.

THE THREE TONES OF JOY

Fortunately a previous owner of this song sheet has identified the ladies and attributed to them their respective names .
