THAT'S WHERE I CAME IN * HADDA BROOKS TRIO * MODERN 155 * USA
Hadda Brooks was born Hadda Hopgood on October 29, 1916, in Los Angeles, she studied piano from the age of four and her earliest records were instrumentals and she became known as the 'Queen of the Boogie'. Hadda Brooks was the first to record for Jules Bihari's Modern Music label, later known as just Modern (records) (it was Bihari who gave her the name Brooks). Her sixteenth release for Bihari That's where I Came In was first pressed on the Modern Music imprint, but latter pressed, with the same catalogue number, on the new label as seen above. Although she was famous for her Boogie recordings That's Where I Came In is a slow and delicate ballad sung by Hadda Brooks with a bitter sweet and sensitive phrasing.
