Although Joe Lutcher (Born Joseph Woodman Lutcher, in 1919) vocalises on this his debut recording for Art Rupe's fledgling Speciality label, it is, for me, an instrumental cut. The record was a #14 hit on Billboards R&B charts in 1948, the above copy is a second pressing from 1949, the original was on Specialty # 512.
