BUT I DO * WINSTON STEWART * R&B 147 * UK
Singer Winston (a. k. a. Delano) Stewart cut some of his more well known recordings with Sonja Pottinger in the late 1960s, but before then he had a handful of records out for Coxsone Dodd on the Roland And Powie and Muzik City labels; he also recorded some duets for Coxsone with various partners. (I Don't Know Why I Love You) But I Do was written by Robert Guidry and Paul Gayton (given a rare, though miss spelt, credit on this pressing) and is given an early Ska treatment on Winston Stewart's cover and is almost certainly inspired by Clarence Frogman Henry's Argo (5378) recording, which was a big hit in 1961.
