PENNY-REEL * ERIC MORRIS * ISLAND 142 * UK

An old Mento song the risqué Penny Reel was was a staple for live bands and has been recorded by many artists on the island ever since; one of the earliest records to be pressed in Jamaica by innovative producer Ken Khouri through his Records Limited recordings and pressing plant, it was recorded as a Calypso by Lord Power and issued on Khouri's Kalypso imprint in early 1955.

Eric Morris, backed by male vocal chorus and 'Reid Selected Group', cut his fine Ska version for Duke Reid, which was issued on the Treasure Isle label in JA.
