A THOUSAND MILES AWAY * THE HEARTBEATS * ROULETTE 26 * USA
Released on Hull 720 A Thousand Miles Away was originally the B side to Oh Baby Don't, but fans preferred this Soulful lament written by lead singer James 'Shep' Sheppard after his girlfriend had moved from New York to Texas. The Song did very well and a month after its release was reissued on Rama 216 and selling well enough to reach 53 on the Pop, and 5 on the R&B charts. This Roulette reissue is backed with Down On My Knees a latter recording (1958) originally released on Roul 4054.
