From the Drifters third session for Atlantic [New York, October 1953] this was: Clyde McPhatter (lead tenor), Gerhart Thrasher (tenor), Andrew Thrasher (baritone), Bill Pinkney (bass), with Sam 'The Man' Taylor (tenor saxophone), Harry Van Walls (piano), and Jimmy Oliver or Micky Baker (guitar), plus unknown bass and drums. Only six singles of Clyde McPhater and the Drifters were released, and all were top ten Rhythm & Blues hits between September 1953 and June 1955. This official Atlantic reissue is from the 1970s.
