I'M SO YOUNG * THE STUDENTS * CADET 5386 * USA
Richard Johnson from Cincinnati formed a group called the D'italians in 1957, they changed their name to the Students the next year when I'm So Young was originally issued on Note 10012, with backing from the Jimmy Coe Orchestra. It was picked up by Chess Records, and issued on Checker 902 and Argo 5386. The above is an official Chess recording group reissue from the 1970s.
A beautiful song when sung by the even more beautiful Kathy
Cornelious, who left the group shortly after this recording - what a great loss
to the world of music that she never sung on more records, such a powerful
voice. I'm So Young has been covered many times since The
Students first recorded it, by such diverse acts as Rosie and The Originals
and The Beach Boys. The song is still being recorded 50 years later with a fine
version by The Saints (see below) or check out this stunning version by a very
'young' (still in braces)
