LITTLE DARLING * THE GLADIOLAS * EXCELLO 2101 * USA
Astonishingly this fantastic Southern R&B stormmer was issued in England at the time, of course there was the ubiquitous cover version ([sans intro] by the Diamonds) that could have prompted it's British release. The Gladiolas, lead by Maurice Williams changed their name after this minor hit to Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs, and had a phenomenal success with Stay, it was certainly popular with the first wave of Mods at the Lyceum, London, and went on to sell something like 20 million copies worldwide. The above is an official reissue from the late sixties or early seventies.
