The Danleers were all from Brooklyn and the high DooWop ballad One Summer Night was their debut release, originally issued on the Amp 3 imprint # 2115 in May 1958 as by The Dandleers. A model 'summer-love' teen song it was instantly picked up by Mercury and released with the groups correct name, and soon became a summer hit reaching number seven Pop, and number four R&B, on Billboards charts.
