WHEN I'VE DONE MY BEST * THE HARMONIZING FOUR * VEE JAY 864 * USA
If we faired badly in England with scarce and infrequent issues of Rhythm and Blues, we faired much worse with Gospel, only a handful of records were ever issued, and those that were tended to be of the Mahalia Jackson When The Saints Go Marching In Salvation Army type. This is a soulful ballad from Vee Jay's Gospel series, Vee Jay, like many of the bigger independents from the late 1940s and early 50s started of issuing Gospel tunes alongside their secular stuff, and later split the two giving the Gospel a different numbering system, and in some cases a different label design. Vee Jay issued over 100 discs in their Gospel series, from 1957 to 1966.
