DARLING DON'T DO THAT * CLANCY ECCLES * PAMA 701 * UK
Nice Rock Steady vocal from the late Clancy Eccles, who died last week - Thursday June 30th 2005 - age 64, Darling Don't Do That was Clancy Eccles first production after being out of the business for a while (it is said he was working as a tailor), it was recorded at Coxsone Dodd's Studio 1 and released on a blank label in Jamaica, it was, amazingly, issued as the second release on the fledgling Pama label backed with the almost as good What Will Your Mama Say also by Clancy Eccles. Clancy Eccles also recorded a Ska version of Darling Don't Do That for Coxsone Dodd in 1966 which was issued on the Gaydisc label. For the next week it is possible to listen to the Bovine Ska and Rock Steady show's two hour tribute to Clancy Eccles archived here http://wmbr.org/?p=sched-tue#bovine look for Generoso Bovine Ska and Rock Steady and click on the Wed Jul 06 link
