Roy Shirley, a.k.a. Ainsworth Roy Rushton, who had previously sang with The Leaders and was a founding member of The Uniques, left the group to follow a solo career and had a massive hit with the above Hold Them produced by new-kid-on-the-block Bunnie Lee. The record was also very popular in the UK when it was released on the Doctor Bird label # 1068. He migrated to Britain in the early 1970s where he was a regular performer on the night club scene.
