LET ME COME ON HOME * HOPETON LEWIS * ISLAND 3056 * UK
Hopeton Lewis was born in Kingston, and when he was only
two years old his mother died, he subsequently lived with his grandparents who
both died when he was still only fifteen years old leaving him to fend for
himself. His first group was The Regals who recorded Shammy Back for
Studio One in 1965, Hopeton Lewis claims to have instigated the Rock
Steady rhythm with his song Take It Easy. Weather he did or not the above
is a fine Rock Steady cut for Winston Blake's Merritone label., which starts out
quite Jazzy but is held together by a strong piano line by Gladstone Anderson.
