STEP SOFTLY * BOBBY ELLIS & THE DESMOND MILES SEVEN * ISLAND 3077 * UK

Born 1932 and a graduate of the Alpha Boys School, Kingston, Bobby Ellis practiced trumpet from the age of nine until he left at 16, studying under various tutors including Raymond Harper and Mr. Delgado. He returned to the instrument sometime in 1956 playing in various bands and orchestras until he joined the Mighty Vikings, recording at Coxsone's Studio One. He has played in groups with the cream of Jamaican musicians ever since, including the Crystallites, the Soul Brothers and Lynn Tait and the Jets, while working session, backing countless vocal stars like Jimmy Cliff, Burning Spear, Dennis Brown, Alton Ellis and groups such as the Ethiopians, the Wailers and the Maytals to name only a few. This Rock Steady cut was produced by Derrick Harriott and released in Jamaica on his Crystal label.
