COMBINATION BOOGIE * J. B. & HIS HAWKS * CHANCE 1155 * USA
Joseph Benjamin Hutto was born in 1926 and died 1983, his first recordings were for the Chicago based Chance label who released three records by him; Combination Boogie was the first. Vocalist and guitarist J. B. Hutto belts out a powerful Jump Blues aimed strictly at the dancers on this cut and makes up the Blues combo, The Hawks, with: George Maywether, harmonica; Joe Custom, guitar and Porkchop Hines on Washboard/drums. Nine tracks were recorded at Chance with only six being issued in 1954 after which J. B. Hutto never recorded for another decade, instead, it is said, he was working as a funeral parlour cleaner! The above record is a c1970s facsimile of the original disc, which I would imagine is pretty scarce as non of his Chance releases sold very well.
