DON'T MESS UP A GOOD THING * FONTELLA BASS & BOBBY McCLURE * CHESS 8007 * UK

Before audiences in Britain first heard Fontella Bass on her hit record Rescue Me she was to be heard on this duet with Bobby McClure (his debut on wax) a record more in the Rhythm and Blues frame that Chess records were famous for than the Soul oriented tracks she was to cut latter. Fontella Bass and Bobby McClure had both previously been working with the Little Milton band and the Oliver Sain revue; Sain produced this record. Bobby McClure started out singing with the all-female Gospel group Spirit Of Illinois, after which he sang with the R&B band he formed, Bobby And The Vocals. The Duo had one more release on Checker You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone Checker 1111, which wasn't released in England.
