DUST MY BROOM * ELMORE JAMES * JEWEL 764 * USA
Dust My Broom (I Believe) My Time Ain't Long is Elmore (or Elmo) James first recording. Recorded in Jackson Mississippi and originally issued on Trumpet 146, it features James on vocal and guitar, Sonny Boy Williamson on harmonica and Odie Johnson on base. After the Trumpet release it was put out on Ace 508 c1955 with the original flip Catfish Blues, which, although credited to James [on both Trumpet and Ace] was by an unidentified Blues singer. This Jewel pressing is the third issue released in 1966 with a different B side Gotta [Gonna] Find My Baby, which again is credited to James but is in fact by Big Boy Crudup; recorded by him in Jackson, Miss, late 1952 and also released on the Trumpet label # 186 under the name Elmer James.
