EMPTY BED BLUES * BESSIE SMITH * COLUMBIA 2796 SWING MUSIC SERIES 135 * UK

Recorded in New York on March 20th 1928 with Bessie Smith vocals Charlie Green trombone and Porter Granger piano, and originally issued on Columbia 14312 in the US. Empty Bed Blues (First Part and Conclusion) is a very sophisticated mournful tale written and sung by Bessie Smith, full of double meanings, with her tongue firmly in her cheek. This British re-issue was probably released some time in the late 1940s.
