Altough Elzadie Robinson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, her recording career lasting from 1926 - 29 was in Chicago. Backed by the very minimal piano playing of Will Ezell Gold Mansion Blues is a sweet understated Blues, about as far as you can get from the fulsome singing of say Bessie Smith. Recorded 10 of January 1928 and originally released on Paramount 12701, and released in the UK c1950s.
