Memphis born Junior Wells, learnt to play harmonica from Little Junior Parker, who was two years older, and like Wells would go to become a harmonica legend. After a spell working with Louis and David Myers and Fred Below in the early 1950s, then backing Muddy Waters he recorded his first records for the Chicago based States label in 1952.
After a break from recording for two years Junior Wells started recording for Mel London's Chief label in 1957. Record in Chicago Messing With the Kid a dynamic and assertive Blues was, including a duet Earl Hooker, his fourth for the label, on the session was Donald Hankins, Jarrett 'Gerry' Gibson, on saxophones; John Walker, piano; Earl Hooker, guitar; Jack Myers, bass guitar and Fred Below, drums.
