P.  M.  BLUES * PERCY MAYFIELD * BRUNSWICK 55390 * USA

Percy Mayfield was forty eight when Brunswick issued this his only release for the label, some twenty years on from his first ever waxing. Percy Mayfield had a big Blues ballad hit, the self penned Please Send Me Someone To Love in 1950 on Art Rupee's Speciality label, and was a rising star in the LA R&B scene until a car accident in 1952 left him disfigured. He was a fine song writer and singer, in many genres - he wrote Hit The Road Jack and other hits for Ray Charles.
