WALKING THE BLUES * JACK DUPREE AND MR. BEAR * KING 4812 * USA

Piano player and Blues vocalist Jack Dupree a. k. a. Champion Jack Dupree (a name he inherited from his days as a professional boxer) recorded his first sides for OKeh in 1940. He signed for King records of Cincinnati in 1953 and stayed until 1955, Walking The Blues, was a writing and recording  collaboration with Mr. Bear a. k. a. Teddy McRae, was his only record ever to chart.  Champion Jack Dupree was something of a cult figure with Mods in London in the early 1960s; his first British album Blues From The Gutter, released on London American in 1959, was, for some obscure reason, an album to be seen with.
