Trumpeter Johnny 'Dizzy' Moore leads a blistering solo on this slice of high octane Ska produced by Justin "Phillip" Yap, a different, less brassy, version was issued on the reissue box set of Top Deck Ska 45s. The story is told of how John Arlington Moore, aka Johnny 'Dizzy' Moore, decided on a strategy of misbehaving so as to be sent to the Alpha Boy's School where he could learn to be a musician!
Quite apart from his immense musical contribution, I can't help admiring and having lots of respect for someone who takes his own life into his own hands and defies convention with actions like that. Which makes me wonder about his title Red Is Danger on this record. I would like to think that he was something of a libertarian and that Red Is Danger as a warning that refers to the 'red' in the socialist/communist ideology; the scourge of the 20th century from Stalin's Communist Party of the Soviet Union, through Adolph Hitler's National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) and Mao Zedong Chairman of the Communist Party of China, to Venezuela's President Maduro, who, as I write, is ordering the arrest of Venezuela’s opposition leader, the killing of protesters and expulsion of foreign journalists! All of which, I might add, is supported by Socialists in the UK like MPs Diane Abbot and Grahame Morris, and their minions. Yes Johnny Moore is right Red Is Danger and should be avoided at all costs.
