SEVEN DAYS * STRANGER AND CLAUDETTE * ISLAND 233 * UK
The lyrical content of some Ska songs could be best described as minimal, and often sounding spontaneous or only written down moments before recording. This spontaneity however has anything whatsoever to do with the intrinsic value, status or quality of a song, in fact many a song that has been labored over can end up dead sounding and worthless. The freshness of Seven Days is just part of the overall and indefinable sound quality which makes these records so attractive to me.
