CAT-O-NINE * COUNT ZEBRA AND THE SEASIDERS * KALYPSO 23 * UK

A good double sider, issued by Melodisc, on the Kalypso label, a label that started to appear c1958, which makes it an early one for Jamaican music in Great Britain. According to Dalke's research there are four numbering series: The C1001, (the earliest) the RL 101 and XL 101 (1959) and finally the more common XX series which included EPs. Most of the music is, as the label says, Calypso (from Trinidad), which itself, is beginning to be re-evaluated by fans of West Indian music. But there are some issues with a more Jamaican flavor, these were produced for Coxsone Dodd,  Duke Reid and others. Unfortunately although it is known that the above was originally issued on Go Calypso, it is not yet known who produced it.
