Wilfred 'Jackie' Edwards singer 1938 - 1992
Not long after this Jackie Edwards dropped the Wilfred part of his name, which, it must be said, did make him sound like he belonged to another era. In fact Jackie was a bit of a romantic 'old time' crooner, and none the worse for it. He had a fabulous voice that, like many of his fellow West Indian vocalists, was capable of singing with or without musical accompaniment, and, because it was a genuine talent, was versatile and adapted to any musical genre. The above is a nice sophisticated early soul type number, while the flip is more a 1950s Johnny Ace style ballad.
