Vocalist, musician, song-writer and arranger the late Theophilus Beckford is recognized, with Easy Snapping, as the first to record the Jamaican music which was latter to become known as Ska and Reggae.
Georgie And The Old Shoe (does anybody know what 'The old shoe' refers to?) was originally released on Coxsone Dodd's nascent Worldisc imprint in Jamaica as was nearly all of the eight or nine sides Beckford had released by Dodd in 1959, before he left the producer over issues of non-payment.
