OH MURDER * OWEN & LEON * BLANK * JA
It was originally thought that brothers Owen & Leon Silvera cut this extraordinary record for Coxsone, but the JC matrix on this original pre-release would suggest otherwise (it was released on the obscure Sebastians label). The lyrics to this song are unusual to say the least, imploring someone to refrain from (literally) murdering their partner, who, it seems, wants to be murdered! This would be strange enough for a song from this period, but what makes it disturbing and, potentially, fatally prophetic is that it has a trombone lead, and as such can be interpreted that the lyrics are directed to the trombone player who could well have been the great Don Drummond!!!
Murder was also released in the UK; see below.
