YOUR KISSES * DOTTY AND BONNY * ISLAND 143 * UK

This type of slow, almost MOR, type of recording is not to every fan of Jamaican music's taste, it wasn't mine for a long time - in fact I reckon I've gotten rid of plenty of these types of ballads over the years - but as happens my tastes in music have broadened and now find a lot to listen to and like in these records. I always think of them being produced mostly for an older generation, though undoubtedly some young buyers appreciated them; what is clear the artists themselves were at home with these as much as an energetic driving Ska track. The above, a Duke Reid production is however a bit of a mystery for me as at one time I must have liked it enough to separate it of from the also-ran's, and put it in a decorated protective sleeve (as a way of reminding me that I like it, sad eh) anyway now when I play it I can't quite see what it was about it that I had once liked so much!
