CATCH THE QUINELLA * THE JAMAICAN ACTIONS * COXSONE 7070 * UK

There was a spate of songs from Jamaica about horses and horse racing around this time, Long Shot Kicked The Bucket being the most well known. I think the quinella of  this song  is a type of bet in horse race gambling, something like a 'double'; To win a quinella wager you must pick the 1st and 2nd place finishers in any order. If you play a 1-2 quinella and the race finishes 1-2 or 2-1 you are a winner. Apparently it is also very similar to an exacta box but usually has a lower pay out. There are it seems at least three types of Quinella: a Single, a Multiple, and a Leg-in. The Jamaican Actions, a male vocal group, had four sides released for Dodd all in 1968, one of which was called Giddy Up which reinforces the likelihood of this being a horsy song.
